Russian leader Vladimir Putin has deployed more ‘Wagner Group’ personnel to Ukraine in another attempt to assassinate Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Denis Shmigal.
Via Fox News:
“Ukraine’s Defense Ministry on Sunday claimed to have intelligence that suggested Russia has deployed more Wagner personnel in an effort to eliminate senior political and military leaders in Ukraine.
Officials said that Putin “personally” ordered the attack, which will target Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as well as Prime Minister Denis Shmigal.
But the Defense Ministry said “Ukrainian army, special services and law enforcement agencies are well-known Kremlin plans.”
“We are ready for the rest of the aggressor both in the front and in the back,” a press release said. “No terrorist attacks will succeed.”
This is a bad sign but lets hope that the Ukrainian military is as prepared to thwart this new threat as they claim to be.
Russia’s ‘Wagner Group’ is filled with hardened professional military operatives, has a lot of high level combat experience and a formidable foe.
According to the ‘Center for Strategic and International Studies‘ (CSIS) “The Russian private military company Wagner Group may appear to be a conventional business company. However, its management and operations are deeply intertwined with the Russian military and intelligence community. The Russian government has found Wagner and other private military companies to be useful as a way to extend its influence overseas without the visibility and intrusiveness of state military forces. As a result, Wagner should be considered a proxy organization of the Russian state rather than a private company selling services on the open market.”
