Henry Ruggs III was driving his Corvette 156 miles per hour seconds before allegedly causing a fiery car crash Tuesday that left a 23-year-old woman dead, Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Eric Bauman said in court Wednesday, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Ruggs, the former Raiders receiver who was cut by the team Tuesday night and is facing felony DUI charges, also had a blood alcohol content of .161, Bauman said, according to the Las Vegas Sun. That is more than twice the state’s legal limit of .08.

Bauman said the speed of Ruggs’ vehicle was 127 mph when the airbags were deployed. Tina Tintor of Las Vegas died with her dog as a result of the crash and ensuing fire.

Ruggs, 22, could also be facing charge of possessing a gun under the influence of alchol after police reported finding a loaded gun on the floor of the car. Injuries sustained by Ruggs’ girlfriend and passenger, Kiara Je’nai Kilgo-Washington, could lead to a second felony DUI charge.

Ruggs, 22, appeared before a judge in Las Vegas Justice Court in a wheelchair. His mugshot shows him wearing a neck brace with a cut on his nose.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said outside court he believed Ruggs suffered a leg injury.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure, who presided over O.J. Simpson’s 2008 robbery case, set Ruggs’ bail at $150,000, and ordered him to abstain from alcohol and other controlled substances. He was ordered not to drive and to surrender his passport. Ruggs is due back in court on Nov. 10.

“What we have here is a young man who has never been in trouble before,” Ruggs’ attorney David Chesnoff told the court.
