Dave Chapelle, understanding that many people are upset about a new theater at his alma mater in DC being named after him, came up with a creative and spectacular way to challenge them.

Chapelle has personally donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Georgetown.

"While the school initially canceled the fundraiser, it later adjusted its stance and postponed the fundraiser until April while still going forward with plans to name the theater after Chappelle," according to The Blaze.

"Having the theater named after me is a great honor," Chappelle wrote on the second page of his post. "Although, that was not my idea, aim, or desire. At the request of our beloved school’s founder Peggy Cooper [Cafritz], I accepted."

Chapelle, despite the cancellation, made an impromptu visit to the school on Tuesday Nov. 23 to speak with a full auditorium of students. He came prepared to debate some of them, and debate did ensue, with "woke" students telling him "your comedy kills" and calling him a "bigot."

Chapelle not only defended himself, on Monday he went a step further, issuing a challenge to all his critics.

Here is reproduced his offer below, in his own words:

"April, I intend to honor that request. If you object to my receiving this honor, I urge you to donate to the school, noting your objection. If you are in favor of the theater being named, 'Chappelle,' I urge you to donate to the school, noting your approval."

"If by April, those against the 'Chappelle' theater exceed the donations of those who are neutral or in favor of the theater being named 'Chappelle,' I will gladly step aside. If not, I will happily attend the naming ceremony."

The final sentence of Chapelle's challenge:

"And if you don't care enough to donate... please, shut the f*ck up, forever."
