Three Houston deputies ‘shot from behind’

A shooting incident outside a bar in Houston, Texas, in the early hours of Saturday morning left a deputy dead and two others injured.  Three Harris County deputies went outside due to reports of a disturbance.

Authorities said that the three deputies were detaining one man when they were shot from behind. Of the two surviving deputies, it appears that one sustained a gunshot wound to the back, and another to the foot.

“We believe they were ambushed,” commented Jim Jones, the Houston Police Department’s Executive Assistant Chief, during a press conference on Saturday morning. Jones also then mentioned that the Houston Police Department currently has a “person close to the scene” currently in custody.
