  1. It isn't a service. They charge for everything they do. Were it a service, then the money given to the by the taxpayer should cover stamps, packages, etc.

  2. No where in the U.S. Constitution does it say that the U.S. Postal Service has to operate at a profit. Win, lose, or draw, it's the responsibility of the Congress to oversee it's funding.
