A video of former child star Ricky Schroder confronting a Costco manager has taken the country by storm, in part because of the growing frustration over heavy-handed officials.

In the footage that Schroder shared on Instagram, he voiced his frustration over the members-only retailer still requiring masks in California despite the announcement Thursday from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that fully vaccinated people are no longer required to wear masks in most indoor and outdoor situations.

Schroder, who is not wearing a mask in the video, is speaking with a Costco supervisor wearing a name tag that identifies him as “Jason,” asking why he is not being let into the store.

“Because in the state of California and in the county of Los Angeles, and Costco, there has been no change to our mask policy,” the employee said

“There has been. Didn’t you see the news?” Schroder replied. “Nationwide Costco said you don’t need to wear masks.”

Costco announced Friday that it was lifting its policy requiring masks inside stores, but said areas with state or local mask mandates may still require them. And while some states dropped those mandates after the new CDC guidance, others, like Democrat-run California and New York, kept the requirement in place.

The result is a convoluted and confusing environment that some businesses contribute to by not pushing back in states that have suddenly decided to ignore the CDC — which was the very entity they previously fell back on to require masks.

California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom said last week he may lift the statewide mask mandate around mid-June, and “Jason” explained this to Schroder.

“Oh, if they allow us? If they grant us that, our kings?” Schroder said. “The people in power. You’re going to listen to these people? They destroyed our economy. They’re destroying our culture. They’re destroying our state. And you’re just going to listen to their rules?”

While it’s not the manager’s place to make such a call, Schroder called on viewers to “give up” their Costco membership.

“I suggest everybody in California get their refund from Costco,” Schroder said. “Give up your membership from Costco until they remove this.”

“Costco is simply abiding by the law and that’s the law,” the employee responded.

Actor Scott Baio weighed in to defend Schroder, insisting in ALL CAPS, “It is not the law. It is a mandate from the dictators!”

This being a reference to a wave of executive fiats resulting from the pandemic, where local and state officials dictate acceptable public behavior, as opposed to an ordinance passed by a municipality or written law passed by a state legislature.

Perusing the responses to the story, there’s no mistaking how political the pandemic has become in America — it’s even a reasonable argument to suggest that COVID-19 may have decided the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

In the eyes of the left, Schroder’s biggest sin may be that he donated $150,000 to help bail out Kyle Rittenhouse, the teenager charged with killing two protesters while being attacked in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

As for Baio, an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump, he has long been a target of the left.

Which is not to say that the actor’s above educating poorly informed liberals.

Some accused him of not understanding what a private company is, while others claimed he said Costco was government-owned.

“I never said that,” he tweeted. “A public company has shareholders and a board of directors. Where did I say it was a government owned company?”

As for the meltdown over Schroder’s actions, here’s an example from the “angry race lady” over at MSNBC, who attacked conservative Americans as a whole:

But that’s just the appetizer for the liberal spewing that ensued… behold:

  1. For all the people saying it is the law in California, you are too stupid to have an opinion.
The USA is such a joke to the rest of the world because of the layers of pinheads in government who think THEY get to decide for everyone what is right. If federal law disagrees with state law but agrees with county laws but that goes against the mandate of the state governor...no one knows whose rules are to be followed!

  2. MASKS DO NOTHING to stop viruses. NOTHING! 80% of those that got ill WERE WEARING A USELESS MASK! They DO on the other hand CAUSE a host of HEALTH PROBLEMS. Oxygen deprivation, dental problems, BACTERIAL PNEUMONIA and more. Its VERY important to understand EPSTEIN GUILTY Trump's ROLE in this so you dont make the SAME MISTAKES or support him as he MAKES MORE! CASES NOT DEATHS! EVENT 201 proves this was all a PLANNED FARCE! Understand that Epstein GUILTY Trumpy is a deep state FAKE like all others before him and gave Gates GAVI group a BILLION to FORCE a vaccine on YOU using the MILITARY in a 'powerful way' Gates controlled and funded Fauci AND Birx and they ALL should be EXECUTED. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pV1U9s3vJ0
